Not distant. Not easily annoyed. Not waiting for us to become less messy before we come close.
Gentle.
Matthew 11 is spoken to people who are tired and carrying too much. And instead of giving them another thing to get right, Jesus says, “Come to me.”
I think a lot of us know God loves us and still secretly imagine Him being a little disappointed in us. Especially when it’s the same struggle again. The same prayer again. The same version of ourselves we thought we’d be past by now.
But the gospel keeps bringing us back to this: Jesus already knows the whole story.
And He still says come.
We don’t have to arrive impressive. We don’t even have to arrive okay.
We just have to arrive.
