Showing up on time. Keeping the promise. Doing the work properly even when nobody is checking.
None of it feels especially important in the moment.
Jesus says, “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.” Which is inconvenient if we were hoping character would begin once life got more impressive.
It usually doesn’t.
God seems to do a lot of His forming in ordinary places. Jesus Himself spent most of His earthly life outside the spotlight. Years of normal life before anyone was calling it ministry.
The gospel frees us from needing every small thing to lead somewhere bigger. We’re already known and loved by God. We don’t have to turn faithfulness into another way of proving ourselves.
We can just take care of what’s in front of us.
