Some days we’re patient and generous. Other days the coffee is late, someone says the wrong thing and suddenly our best qualities have taken the morning off.
Very human.
But there’s an important part of the verse that comes first: Paul is speaking to people who are already “dearly loved.”
That’s the gospel order. We don’t put on kindness so God will love us. We put it on because He already does.
So kindness becomes less about being the nicest person in the room and more about letting the grace we’ve received show up in how we treat the people in it.
Some days it fits beautifully. Some days we need to put it back on around 2 p.m.
That’s okay too.
Inspired by Colossians 3:12: “As God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”
